Zune - Hebrew for...

Interestingly enough Microsoft's new mp3 player, the Zune may strike an off cord with some people due to its name alone. Apparently zune is, if pronounced in the right way is pretty darn close to the Hebrew word for F$%K.. It seems unlikely that this will not truly offend anyone, it takes a weird unusual pronunciation to get close to the Hebrew f-bomb. Regardless, it makes for MS fodder.. It would have been quite ironic if the Hebrew translation was turd.

On a related note is a popsci blog on uses of the word zune (#1 is pure gold baby :)

congratulations

Congratulations you. Well thank you, me. Time magazine announced the annual person of the year a few days ago and it was you...and me too for that matter. Some may disagree and say that it was an easier, less controversial choice than selecting an individual world leader or what not. I think it is a real acknowledgment as to the impact the web has had on what it means to be a "reporter", how people get their news and what it means to mainstream news media. That sounds awfully grand and important, lest we not forget those webgems of everyday idio.. uh people hamming it up for the camera and posting to YouTube or Revver. Some goodies.. evolution of dance, gun accident

2 worthy websites - giveawayoftheday offers normally fee based software free for a limited time each day. It started kind of hokey but now is getting some good well know apps! Also Lauchy application launcher for windows. Even with the start menu hiding your lesser used apps it is still a pain to work through the layers to get to your .exe. Launchy is a tiny app that runs at startup using a relatively small resource footprint. It hides in the background and is activated by a keystroke. Simply begin to type the letters of your app, it auto fills, hit enter and app launches. Launchy returns to hiding.. nice. You may never use your start menu again... it also works, if you choose to open mp3's, jpg's etc...

digital comic books

I just stumbled onto this blog from MacWorld by Jason Snell. Now obviously things have an Apple lean but the information crosses platforms. I had not heard too much about reading digital comics (DCP) but apparently there are lots of legal and illegal comics out there and slick software by which to read them. If you are at all interested in comics (especially Marvel - they seem to have the most out there) you may want to give it a read.
