a few things
As the holiday season is now upon us, I have a small list of complaint / wishes to share.
Blah, how about something we all can enjoy. Brad - if you and I did a video podcast Diggnation would be it. If you haven't watched it yet... What are u waiting 4?? Interestingly TIVO has added podcasting to their service. Diggnation is one of the default Tech podcasts, audio only right now but hopefully the video podcast will be available on TIVO soon.
ARGGGG.. I can't take it anymore.. it is taking WAY to long to blog this due to the s l o w Internet connection. "you yank my chain and watch my blood begin to boil" - soundgarden
Merry Christmas, have a drink and relax.
- I want a laptop that is quiet. One with a fan set to a lower decibel than a leaf blower.
- I would appreciate some real choices for broadband in rural America. If you cannot load 2 pages simultaneously or if forecastfox times out while retrieving the current temp.. you do not have broadband.
- I would like my son to sleep until 6am at least twice a week, particularly Sat & Sun.
- I would like to end world hunger>

life should have a soundtrack
Some songs are just destined to be great, some songs hide from you concealing their title and artist waiting for that opportunity when you are ready to listen. Johnny Cash for instance. Never considered myself a fan, oh sure I like my share of country but not Johnny. Then there I was standing in the store debating whether to buy his new cd or save the $10. I bought the cd (cause I have spent $10 on dumber things) I put on my iPod and the cd has seen near constant rotation in my car player. The songs spoke to me, I identified with some the hard times he was singing about. It was one of the better cd buys I have made.
Today, I had a similar experience and btw I admit; my music tastes cannot be defined, if it is good (in my opinion) sold. Anyway, today watching a goodbye video from a local news anchor I hear a song that is familiar and cuts to my soul. Thank goodness Amy stopped down and helped to dig up the artist who sadly passed away in 1997. I bet you have heard the song before, it is to me a very heartfelt rendition of "Over the Rainbow". It has been used in movies and TV, specifically it was used in the ER episode in which Dr. Green dies. Yea its that type of song, but damn it I like it.
Anyway, the artist is Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole he was a Hawaiian man with a knack for the Ukulele and an awesome voice. I would love to have his albums (any last minute Christmas shoppers) specifically Alone in Iz World.
I think I am going to start a top ten of sappy sorta gay songs that Jason likes even if you don't.
But not tonight.
The other thing that I wanted to comment on tonight, I think can wait until tomorrow. All the links are at school :) wooooo building suspense..
Laugh today,

Do my eyes deceive me?
but can we always believe what our brain is telling us? Take a look at this study on how the eyes deal with certain levels of detail when distance is a variable. Basically, it is an optical illusion. Nothing scary here, but you will be amazed. On the other hand, what can we really believe even after seeing it with our own eyes.

Celebrity

Robbie: You hit two cones back there. Those could have been pedestrians... they could have been people at her wedding!
Sammy: [exasperated] They were CONES!

Another page to check
Started my flickr page tonight... thought it would be a good way to share some photos.. I had thought that the good people @ Google bought the name, apparently it was Yahoo.. maybe google offers similar and I am too lazy to search for it.
If anyone knows...
the song that is played during the Pontiac Torrent commercial that is always played at the conclusion of Survivor, please make a comment and tell me! It is a dance-club beat with purplish lights raising to the beat. I would like to have the full version if there is one...

Back Home Again, in Indiana...

Crap. I had 3 lines, good lines typed out then hit a bookmark by mistake and erased it all. Oh well, basically, I was saying how I had planned on posting from the City by the Bay. I thought I had read that google was providing wi-fi access to the city for free. Turns out that is still in the proposal stage, and our hotel wanted $10, which wasn't bad, but we were never there! So here I am back in good 'Ol Indiana... so I think I will do Saturday in this post, and maybe Sunday in tomorrow's..
Saturday was an outstanding day from start to well almost to finish! We decided to catch a cable car and head up to Fisherman's Wharf. The cable car ride was a great way to see the city as it was meant to be seen. Out at the wharf we did some walking and decided to check out Alcatrez Island. It was $16 to ferry out to the island, listen to a Ranger guided tour, and listen to an audio Cell Block tour. Worth every penny.
After spending 4 hours or so on the island we headed back in to grab some grub San Franciscan style. So of course we went to Hooters, had some wings and beer, realized the beer was priced like it was lobster so we left. Found a great little Irish Pub and bellied up for some Smithwicks and Guinness. Ended up staying out until well into the morning when we realized that the last cable car was leaving or had left. Jumped on the Muni, made it to Market street, got lost on the way walking to the Hotel finally made it in around 3. Whewww.. Good night full of conversations, friends (new & old), and great beer! Thanks :)

Tuesday, Prime Time
Just finished up watching "The Office"... another great episode, The Christmas party... beware the corporate (or any work related) Holiday party...I find it interesting the product placement that the show does.. All of their meetings are held at Chili's, and the big present on tonight's show was a new iPod nothing overt about it, they are actually usually subtle drops.. Regardless, it looks like Victoria is sharing her secret again over on CBS.. brb.

Good Morning from San Francisco
Touch down yesterday in sunny San Fran around 12:15 local time, 6 hours of flying had worn me out. We jumped on the bart and headed in to the city and emerged onto Market street 20 minutes later. My first impression was, WOW! It was very overwhelming the buildings, the people on the streets, the vendors, homeless, everything.. I felt like a fish out of water a little bit.
Anyway, we got to our hotel - which is really nice.. then to the GAME where we got our VIP cards though I don't think they really mean anything special.
Anyway more to come, just a quick update.. We are heading out for some breakfast and a big day around the bay area..

Learning to fly
Well it looks like I made it.. tomorrow is the big day. I think I am going to sleep until 2:00 am then head to the airport for the 7:20 flight. That will give me plenty of time to make the hour + travel and relax with a cup of joe at the terminal.
Talked to BAM today, he is equally stoked about the weekend. Looks like we are going to be able to use the public transportation once we are there to get to the hotel and walk everywhere else. That means an extra 100 dollars for be.. uh play money. Nice.
I will be posting pics of my adventure throughout the weekend so the 4 people that read this can keep up with my travels. BTW 2 new readers tonight, you know who you are ;)
Lastly, 2 guys you should know by now. Pete Stacker & David Bickler "Real men of genius". Unfortunately the Awipes @ AB have shut down all the sites that provided the commercials for d/l. I wish I could explain why they chose to not expand their marketing to an even broader audience, but I can't. They were only commercials, listen to AM sports radio and you will here them. I guess if you are under 21, don't listen, you may develop alcoholic tendencies from the words that you hear.
Crap, now I am mad. 4 hours till go time.
oh yea Fantastic Four comes out Tuesday.. another solid Christmas choice..
