Mission Accomplished

Wanted to take a second and promote my services. Apple iPod battery replacement - any generation I am happy to do it. I just finished up with a 1st generation iPod, the whole process took about 20 minutes and left no cosmetic evidence of my surgery.

Thanks to BAM for giving due credit on the TikiBar discovery. I was listening to Bob & Tom this morning and I had to share this link. Well just follow the B&T link it is the first photo in the right column.. the LapJuicer is a bar stool turned juicer that well I guess you have to see it to appreciate it..

Oh lastly, I finally picked up the CD I mentioned a few posts ago by IZ.. great cd

A handy utility

Thought I would go ahead and blog this so I have a link. It is a small program that will help determine the codec both audio / video you need to view a video. The really nice feature is that it will provide a direct link to the d/l site for the needed codecs. Took all the guess work out of installing codec packs.. go grab it

Keep on knockin' but you can't come in

I am going to recount my morning for the loyal readers of 'Life in these parts' for 2 reasons. 1. maybe you will laugh and I can feel better through your giggle. 2. I am so angry I can barely type this so maybe it will help get it off my chest.

So I get to work this morning and as usual need to make a restroom stop, #2, enough said. I suppose you need a little idea of the porcelain choices at this point. I can to the boys bathroom or the 1 person, deadbolt locking 'faculty' bathroom. Well I perfer a deadbolt especially if I am giving up the home field advantage. So the latter it is.
Of course while in-progress someone tries to open the door unsuccessfully thanks to my friend the deadbolt. Here is where it gets unusual - a knock, I give a slight 'Yea'. Footsteps walking away.. (a minute or two later) A push on the door, deadbolt blocks, and a knock 'Yea' I say. Mind you this door cannot be locked from the outside without a key that, I thought, no one had so its not like someone purposefully sabotaged the room with an unattended lock.
Now I hear keys rattling, and I am thinking - "what the f##, nooo are you kinding me" sure as I breathing the deadbolt releases and the door opens. I am really in shock at this point and say " EXCUSE ME.. IT WAS LOCKED FOR A REASON." suprisingly no king's english. The door shuts, I finish up quickly and charge out the door to bitch slap the offender. Nothing. I have no clue who it was and it has totally ruined my day....

Un-Friggin'-believable

Why?

Quickly, open question to anyone..

Why must every site on the web that offers some miniscule service require that I create a username / password? Friggin' ridiculous. Hallmark you prompted this frustration. All I wanted to do was send a free e-card, quick & easy like it used to be, but NOOO now I have to have an account, login, remember yet another u/p combo... Just to send a little flair to the Mrs.

Jenn I apologize for the boring plain text email. Blame hallmark.

arggg.

to be fair

Colts, colts where for are't thou Colts

Just for my good friend Brad I will share the following link

That being what it is - drop IE and switch to the Fox!

I had a great idea for a post over Christmas break but didn't get to a computer. The idea surfaced again over the weekend as I was designing a layout for Caleb's geotrax's train set. The need for childrens toy certification, much like MCSE - I am on the road to FPCSE Fisher Price Certified System Engineer. Brillant! I thought to myself. BTW, Brad if Max doesn't have a geotrax system yet I highly recommend it. This is a great toy and very scalable - check out the track layout examples to get an idea..

The Only Thing I Can Do

I read this article in eweek by Jim Rapoza and was once again fearful of money & government here in the "Free" world. First, stop and read his opinion. It is a quick read and may make you think. Here is why you should care: We have all enjoyed the convenience of watching & listening to what we want when we want to thanks to VCR's, Tape Recorders etc... Now we have digital media CD's DVR's, iPods and all of the sudden everyone is a criminal and the Gov't is trying to limit our freedoms at every turn.
Just imagine have time restrictions on when or how long you can view a television show that you saved. You are not profiting from this recording in any way, you simply love the program and want to enjoy it at your leisure. God forbid you have something that brings you joy. Did I miss something profitable in my VCR? Did everyone else see a supplementaly cash cow and abuse the VCR? I hardly think so, and the same is true today.
Americans are not criminals, we are people who were used to enjoying the freedom to watch and listen to what we wanted when we wanted. Period. I went out Christmas shopping last month just like everyone else and what I saw goes against the RIAA / MPAA. I saw people lined up to buy extremely overpriced and undertalented artists CD's. I saw DVD's selling like juicy fruit. Even digital music was hot iTunes gift cards - selling big.
When will they figure it out. We are not criminals, we are consumers who know what they want; a quality product free of restrictions once purchased. It's not rocket science.
